The stamped copy is kept beside your original, so downloading again gives the buyer the same file.
What it is, and what it is not
It discourages sharing: a copy that turns up somewhere else says whose it was, and that makes a buyer think twice. It is not copy protection. It does not stop anyone from sharing the file, and someone determined can remove the line.
What it does not do
- PDFs up to 50 MB. A bigger one, or one locked with a password or damaged, is handed over as you uploaded it, and your studio tells you.
- PDFs only. Images, ZIP files and everything else are handed over as uploaded.
- A product sold as a link is not stamped: the file is wherever you keep it.
Questions about PDF stamping
Does it change my original file?
No. Your upload stays as it is. Each buyer's copy is made from it, kept beside it, and deleted with it.
Is the file sent to another company to be stamped?
No. It is stamped by our own code on the servers that run Nimbus, and not sent anywhere else.
Should I tell buyers?
Yes. Their email is printed on the file they receive, so say so on the product.
