Funnels

After the sale, the next best offer

Up to five offers after someone pays, shown one at a time, each charged in one click to the card they just used. A yes and a no can lead to different next offers, so a no can meet something smaller.

How a funnel works

  1. 1

    Pick what it follows

Any one-off product can have a funnel after it. Each offer is another of your products, at a price you set for the offer.

  2. 2

    Draw the two paths

For every offer, where yes leads and where no thanks leads: a later offer, or the end. A path only ever moves forward, so nobody sees an offer twice.

  3. 3

    One click, same card

The thank-you page shows the first offer. Taking it charges the card just used, on your own Stripe account, once.

On Stan, funnels are on the $99 plan. Here, every part of one is on the $29 plan: a landing page that asks for an email for something free, a sales page built from blocks, a box at checkout, and up to five offers after paying. They are separate steps you connect, not one builder of up to 20 pages like Stan's.

What each offer carries

  • Its own wordsA headline of up to 90 characters, a few sentences of up to 400, and the picture of one of your products.
  • Its own priceNever more than the product costs on its own, so the offer is always a real one.
  • DownsellsA no can lead to the same product for less, or to something else entirely.
  • Nothing sold twiceThe product just bought is never offered again, and anything already in the order is passed over.
  • Only for the buyer who paidThe offers show only in the browser that paid, within an hour of paying.
  • A confirmation for eachEvery offer taken is delivered on the thank-you page and gets its own confirmation email.
  • And pages before itA landing page that gives something free for an email and shows a paid product next, and a sales page that leads to the checkout.

What it does not do yet

  • Pages before the checkout are one per product: a landing page for something free, which can show one paid product next, and a sales page for something paid. There is no editor that chains pages together, and no thank-you page of your own.
  • Offers are shown only after a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay payment.
  • Up to five offers after each product.
  • Offers are one-off products with one price: not memberships, payment plans or calls.
  • While sales tax is on, offers after paying are paused, because tax cannot be added to a one-click charge.
  • A buyer who closes the page, or comes back after the hour, is not shown the offers again.

Questions about funnels

Can a buyer be charged without meaning to?

No. An offer is charged only when the buyer presses to take it, in the browser that paid, within the hour, and once. If the bank asks them to confirm, they confirm it.

Where do I see what was taken?

In your numbers and your sales export, marked as taken after paying, and in your own Stripe dashboard.

Does Nimbus take anything from an offer?

No. 0%, as on every other sale. Stripe charges its own card fee on your account.
